Fluid-Structure Interaction
Through my PhD, I studied problems in fluid-structure interaction using the immersed boundary (IB) method.
Flexible Fibers in Shear Flow
Using the generalized IB method, I studied the dynamics of flexible
fibers (e.g., pulp fibers) in a shear flow. I reproduced the orbit classes observed
experimentally by Mason and co-workers which is characterized
by a single dimensionless parameter for lower Reynolds flows.
I also simulated dilute suspensions using a distributed-memory
cluster. See my thesis and publications for details.
